Cinderella

Cinderella was formed in Philadelphia in 1982 by singer-songwriter/guitarist/keyboardist Tom Keifer and bassist Eric Brittingham. The initial lineup also included guitarist Michael Smerick and drummer Tony Destra. In 1985, Smerick and Destra left to form Britny Fox, a Philadelphia-based band that later relocated to Los Angeles. Cinderella got their big break when Jon Bon Jovi saw them perform at the Empire Rock Club in Philadelphia and recommended that his A&R rep see them as well.In 1985, with a recording contract with Mercury/Polygram Records in the works, guitarist Jeff LaBar and drummer Jim Drnec joined the band.

Members came and went during their formative years in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, including Michael Kelly Smith who would later resurface in Britny Fox. By the time Jon Bon Jovi had discovered them and recording had started for what would become Night Songs the band was comprised of Tom Keifer (vocals/guitar), Jeff LaBar (guitar), Eric Brittingham (bass) and Fred Coury (drums). Success was instant, while they toured with some of the biggest names of the era the album shot up to #3 on the charts on its way to selling over three million copies behind such hits as "Nobody's Fool" and "Somebody Save Me".

Cinderella's first tour was in 1986 with Poison, opening for Japanese heavy metal band Loudness. Further tours from 1986 into 1987 were spent playing to large arena audiences: five months opening for former Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth, and seven months with Bon Jovi, taking the opening slot for their Slippery When Wet tour. In 1987, the band went overseas, appearing in Japan & Scandinavia and at the Monsters of Rock festivals in England and Germany.

Long Cold Winter had similar success, with hits such as "Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone)", "Coming Home" and "Gypsy Road", before the group got more in touch with their bluesy roots for the third album, and then the bottom fell out. Heartbreak Station sold a disappointing (for Cinderella) one million copies, and by 1993 Coury left (joining Arcade) to be replaced by Kevin Valentine whom would himself leave half way through recording sessions for Still Climbing to make room for Ray Brinker. The group called it a day in 1995 and went their separate ways without much fanfare.

The original band reformed in 1998 for the Unfinished Business tour and released a couple live albums. They continue to tour to this very day, but rumored new material has yet to come forward. In 2004 LaBar and Brittingham formed Naked Beggars.

In 2005, Mercury Records released the compilation Rocked, Wired & Bluesed: The Greatest Hits on CD and DVD. Cinderella completed a tour in the summer of 2006 with fellow glam metal rockers Poison. Both bands celebrated the 20th anniversary of their debut albums, Night Songs and Look What the Cat Dragged In. The tour was a success and became one of the most successful tours of 2006, averaging about 20 thousand people in attendance per night. 2007 Keifer began work on a solo album as well as recording with American Idol alumni Bo Bice. Down, but never out, Cinderella will be sure to usher in the new wave of hard rock.

Cinderella plans to tour in 2008 with Warrant, Lynch Mob, and Lynam. They will play several warm-up shows on their own, and begin the tour with Warrant in July.
