Kane Roberts

Kane Roberts (born Robert William Athis) is a heavy metal guitarist best known for his tenure in Alice Cooper's band during the late 1980s. He has also performed as a solo act.

Roberts is notable for his Rambo-like physique and his usage of an electric guitar shaped like a machine gun.

Roberts was the guitarist who played on Alice Cooper's Constrictor and Raise Your Fist and Yell and their respective tours. He is the man responsible for Alice's metal years in the late '80s as he co-wrote nearly every track from those albums. Just by being on stage, he was a part of the show with his huge physique and rocket shooting guitars.

After "Raise Your Fist", Kane released his first solo album, "Kane Roberts", which featured Alice lyrics on 'Full Pull'. He then guested on Trash , playing guitar on "Bed Of Nails". He then released a second solo album Saints and Sinner.

While he is primarily a guitar player, Roberts is also a vocalist, with incredible range, as is evident on his solo projects. Saints and Sinners contained Bon Jovi-penned "Does Anybody Really Fall In Love Anymore?", previously recorded by Cher as well.

He also played on the Bob Ezrin produced Count Three And Pray album by Berlin, and a Rod Stewart album. He helped on backing vocals on Steve Vai's "Sex & Religion"album. He also co-wrote "Take It Off" With Paul Stanley and Bob Ezrin which appeared on Kiss' Revenge Album.

He contributed to albums by Status Quo (Quo), Steve Vai (Sex & Religion) and Desmond Child (Discipline).

Roberts took a long hiatus from music after his second solo album, but returned in 1999 with a band called Phoenix Down, named for a life potion in the PlayStation video game Final Fantasy VII, one of Roberts' favorite games. Phoenix Down recorded only one album, entitled Under A Wild Sky. Fans of both say that much of the record is inspired by the game.

After several years away from the music industry, working in graphic arts and as a video game programmer, Roberts began work on a new album, Touched, in 2006. According to his website kaneroberts.com it is not yet available.

TNT

TNT is a Norwegian hard rock/glam metal band. TNT was formed in the Norwegian city Trondheim in 1982, by vocalist and rhythm guitarist Dag Ingebrigtsen, guitarist Ronni Lé Tekrø, bassist Steinar Eikum and drummer Morten "Diesel" Dahl. Securing a national record contract with PolyGram subsidiary Vertigo Norway, they released their self-titled debut album the same year — their only album that features Norwegian lyrics — and got a hit with the single "Harley Davidson". In August 1983 Morty Black replaced Steinar Eikum on bass, and the following year American vocalist Tony Harnell became TNT's new frontman, making his debut on their album Knights of the New Thunder. His unique and powerful 4 octave range was the final element the band needed to break out of Norway and into the world market. The album was a huge success in Scandinavia and the band then was offered a worldwide deal with Mercury/Polygram worldwide out of New York. Knights was then released in the U.S. in 1985 and the video for Seven Seas got heavy rotation on MTV and the album entered the billboard charts.

That line-up recorded one more album, Tell No Tales in 1987, before "Diesel" Dahl was fired later that year after some turbulent times within the band. Tell No Tales produced TNT's biggest hit, the single "10,000 Lovers (In One)". Tell No Tales marked a slight change in sound from melodic Euro-metal to a more palatable hard rock style, with Le Tekrø and Tony Harnell gaining a reputation as a talented duo. The album was the best selling release in Norway and Sweden that year (outselling hugely popular artists like Michael Jackson and Def Leppard). Tell No Tales also saw the band establishing a mainstream following in Japan and the U.S. Promotional Videos for "Everyone's a Star" and "10,000 Lovers (In One)" were featured on both European and American MTV. They were also featured on Headbangers Ball. The band supported Stryper on a sold out arena tour in the U.S. followed by a tour with Twisted Sister and Great White as well as headlining shows in large clubs in the U.S.

Kenneth Odiin became TNT's new drummer, but recorded only one album with the band, Intuition in 1989, before he left. This release marked a more AOR-oriented sound, still maintaining a little of the hard rock edge of the previous album. Intuition was another huge success in Scandinavia and Japan. It was also the band's best received American release and saw the band embarking on their first headlining tour of the U.S. which broke attendance records across the country in small theaters and large clubs, thanks to the prominent display of the video for the title track on MTV. After the touring to support the album was done, the band negotiated a new (and generous) record contract with Atlantic Records. With new drummer John Macaluso, TNT released the studio album Realized Fantasies and the live recording Three Nights in Tokyo (both in 1992). However, Atlantic did a poor job of promoting the album in the States (assuring that TNT would never find huge success in America) and also the rest of the world. The same year they decided to take a break, choosing to focus on various solo projects. In 1996 the compilation Till Next Time was released, and Harnell, Lé Tekrø and Black reformed TNT with drummer Frode Lamøy. That line-up recorded two albums, Firefly in 1997 and Transistor in 1999.

"Diesel" Dahl returned to TNT in 2000, and the band started working on their new album My Religion, which was released in 2004. Months after the album release, Morty Black decided to quit, and Sid Ringsby took his place for the following concerts and the album All the Way to the Sun, which was released in the fall of 2005. A single, "Sometimes" was released on July 25 in Norway. At the end of that year Victor Borge became TNT's new permanent bassist.

Tony Harnell left the band in April 2006 for both personal and professional reasons, although his final show was on June 30, where TNT played the Polar Rock Festival in Storsteinnes, Norway. He was replaced by British hard rock singer Tony Mills (of UK act Shy, coincidentally supporting TNT for Harnell's farewell show). Despite leaving the band, Harnell collaborated with iMagic Films and producer Darren Paltrowitz on a live DVD featuring his performance with the band in Madrid, Spain from April 1, 2006. The Live in Madrid CD + DVD package was released in Japan in August 2006 and elsewhere in the world in September 2006.

In 2007 TNT released their tenth studio album, The New Territory to mixed reviews and controversy amongst the fans. No music videos to support the album were released except a fan made music video of "Milestone River" published on YouTube.

TNT has begun writing on their 11th studio album, with the same members as Territory. Pre-production will begin in april. Not much else is known at the time. However, it has been hinted by Tony Mills that this album will be in a more straightforward melodic hard rock direction.

Sleez Beez

Sleeze Beez were a glam metal band formed in 1988 in The Netherlands. They released four studio albums and one live album over an eight year career before disbanding in 1996.

An appropriately named sleaze band, the Sleeze Beez managed to fuse the sounds of AC/DC and Def Leppard to create their own unrelenting brand of hard rock. "When The Brains Go To The Balls" will remain one of the best song titles by any group in this genre.

In a unique twist, Chriz Van Jaarsveld (guitar) and Jan Koster (drums) managed to talk their way into a record deal before a band (or many songs for that matter) was even formed. In order to start recording a band was thrown together featuring Don Van Spall (guitar), Ed Jongsma (bass) and vocalist Tiger. The debut album Look Like Hell was only released regionally, but the Sleeze Beez were beginning to make people take notice.

During the recording of what would become Screwed Blued & Tattooed, front man Tiger was replaced by Andrew Elt and the Sleeze Beez were poised for success. Atlantic records snatched up the group, got the band considerable airplay for the single "Stranger Than Paradise" and had the boys opening for Skid Row. The album reached #115 on Billboard's Top 200 and the future looked bright, but within two years the band had quickly fallen from grace.

The band had another album in the can by the end of 1990, but lack of management and disagreements with the record company saw Powertool shelved for almost two full years. Of course by the time the record was finally released bands like Sleeze Beez were becoming extinct thanks to a movement from Seattle. The album sank without a trace and the label quickly cut their loses and dropped the band. A final independent release and live album proved to be Sleeze Beez's last gasp, as the group disbanded in 1996. Elt currently plays with an AC/DC tribute band called Action In DC. Rumors of a reunion continue to swirl, so we may not have heard the last from these sleaze merchants yet

Enuff Z'nuff

If there is such a thing as false advertising in rock & roll, then Enuff Z'nuff is one of its textbook examples. Packaged in garish peace-glam attire by their record company, the group was wrongly lumped in with the disposable pop-metal bands of the late '80s (Poison, Warrant, etc.) rather than appreciated for the truly gifted power pop act that they were. By the time they finally managed to shed their deceptive camouflage, it was much too late to turn public opinion, or their fortunes, around

Enuff Z'nuff is an American glam metal band from Blue Island, Illinois (a suburb of Chicago), founded by Donnie Vie (vocals, guitar, keyboards) and Chip Z'nuff (bass, vocals).

Formed in 1984, the band soon grew a local following. They quickly recorded their first demo songs, many of which would be released only much later in their careers. The band's first single, "Fingers On It," was featured in the 1986 movie Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, however, the song was not available commercially until 1994.

By 1989, Enuff Z'nuff had released their first major label offering, a self-titled debut album on Atco Records, with founding members Donnie Vie and Chip Z'Nuff being joined by guitarist Derek Frigo and drummer Vik "Vikki" Foxx. They had two minor hits that year with the psychedelic-flavored pop rock songs "New Thing" and "Fly High Michelle", which both received steady airplay on MTV. The band's heavy glam rock appearance in their videos was later parodied on MTV's Beavis & Butthead.

For their follow-up album, 1991's Strength, the band tried to tone-down their glam image. It was released in 1991 to strong reviews, including Rolling Stone magazine calling the group "The hot band of the year."[citation needed] There were videos for the singles "Mother's Eyes" and "Baby Loves You", as well as an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman. This follow-up album did not sell nearly as well as their first.

The band filed bankruptcy and left Atco Records, but soon after was picked up by Clive Davis' Arista Records label for their 1993 album Animals With Human Intelligence. This release, much like Strength, received some critical acclaim, but ultimately failed commercially. Soon before the album's release, drummer Vikki Foxx quit the band to join Vince Neil's band. He was soon replaced by Ricky Parent. After Enuff Z'Nuff was dropped from Arista, guitarist Derek Frigo left the band. Despite these setbacks, the band has continued touring and recording up until the present, releasing albums on several indie labels, and finding a solid fanbase overseas. The band had also made regular appearances in the mid-1990s through 2005 on the Howard Stern Radio Show.

Lead singer and songwriter Donnie Vie stopped touring with the group in 2002 to embark upon a solo career. Enuff Z'nuff continued to tour in his absence as a power trio with their lead guitarist Johnny Monaco also serving as the band's front man. In 2004, former lead guitarist Derek Frigo died from an apparent drug overdose at the age of 37. Also, drummer - Ricky Parent, lost his long time battle with cancer in October 2007. Ricky had been with the band for approximately 13 years. Later that year, the existing original members, Chip and Donnie, reconvened to shoot a pilot for the VH1 reality television show, Bands On The Run. The show's pilot episode never aired. However, during that time, the re-united band held recording sessions for their 12th studio album tentatively titled Dissonance. The CD will feature rare appearances from former Ozzy Osbourne/Badlands guitarist Jake E. Lee and original Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler. The band is hoping to release it in the second half of 2008.[2] Recently, bassist Chip Z'Nuff has performed worldwide with Adler's Appetite, which features former Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler.

Chip and Donnie's new version of Enuff Z'nuff has performed at the Rocklahoma Music Festival in Pryor, Oklahoma on July 10, 2008, on the same bill as Poison's Bret Michaels and Skid Row's Sebastian Bach.

Talisman

Talisman are a Swedish/American hard rock band characterized by an international melodic/powerful sound.

Talisman was formed by bass player Marcel Jacob, who had previously played with (among others) Rising Force,John NorumGroup and Power. While Jacob was playing with Europe's John Norum, he started working on tracks which he thought would end up on Norum's second solo album. The singer on those demos was Göran Edman, also in John Norum Group at that time. But Norum rejected the songs and, in the meantime, Göran was offered the opportunity to join Yngwie Malmsteen's band.

Jacob found himself with record label interest but no band when he was later contacted by the label which had originally showed some interest in the demos.

Auditions among Swedish vocalist were unsuccessful but Cary Sharaf (ex Wasa Express guitar player) suggested Jeff Scott Soto: he was called, he got the material and agreed to join the band. Both Soto and Jacob had played on Yngwie Malmsteen's "Marching Out" in 1985, touring in support of the album to some acclaim, particularly in Japan.

In February 1989 recordings for the first album took place in Stockholm with Christopher Ståhl (Power) and Mats Lindfors (Norum, Grand Slam) on guitars, Peter Hermansson (220 Volt, Norum) playing drums on some tracks and Mats Olausson (Yngwie Malmsteen, Glory) on keyboards. Jacob programmed the rest of drums and played all rhythm guitars with the help of the producer Mats Lindfors on "Women, Whiskey and Songs"

Unfortunately, Electra, the label Jacob was signed to, went bankrupt just when the mixing was finished and the album'release was delayed. Meanwhile, Soto's US-based project Eyes got signed. Jacob left for Los Angeles to help Eyes demo and record what would be their first release. During this time an employee of the label that had originally signed Talisman moved to a new label and the masters of the first album were bought from the bankrupt label. So "Talisman" was eventually released in February 1990 on the Airplay/Vinyl Mania label. The first single "I'll Be Waiting" reached number 2 in Sweden's singles chart and 33,000 copies of the album were sold in two months in Sweden.

Live, the band featured Jason Bieler on guitar (Saigon Kick), Jakob "Jake Samuels" Samuelsson on drums and Thomas Wikström (Talk of the town, Candlemass) on keyboards and backing vocals. Talisman were one of the top ten drawing acts in Sweden in the summer. Unfortunately, this label went bust - ending any chances of international exposure for the album.

The time following the summer of 1990 was difficult for the band. Soto was signed to the Pasha label with Eyes. Bieler was enjoying some success with Saigon Kick. Jacob got signed to Warner Sweden because of the success of "Talisman" and had to put together a band. A trip to the US and the UK followed, looking for talent but without success.

Eventually Marcel met again Matti Alfonzetti, an old acquaintance from grade school and from touring in 1986 with Swedish fusion/rock group Wasa Express, and they started writing and recording together in 1992. After some auditions, Alfonzetti, Jacob and Samuels chose 19-year old guitar player Fredrik Åkesson. However, a change in personnel at Warner rsulted in Talisman leaving that label and, with Talisman spending most of 1992 looking for a new label, Alfonzetti left to join Skin Trade.

Christer Wedin, who was doing some press and promotion for the label that released "Talisman", became the Swedish label manager for Dutch/Canadian label Dino Music (later Empire Records). Wedin was interested in releasing a second Talisman album, if Soto was available. As Eyes were now no longer together, Soto agreed and the band returned to the studio.

In the interim, Samuels had left to join Zinny J. Zan's band and so Jacob programmed all drums on an Alesis SR-16. The new album "Genesis" was recorded in three weeks in December 1992 at Stocksund Recording Studios. Soto joined recording along with his then-girlfriend Julie Greaux (Billy Idol, Axel Rudi Pell) who ended up playing the grand piano on "All I Want".

In conjunction with the release of "Genesis" early 1993, Dino Music licensed the first album from Vinyl Mania and re-issued "Talisman" adding six live tracks recorded in Sweden in 1990. When "Genesis" was released, the single "Mysterious" got some airplay, and the album immediately sold more than 15,000 copies in Sweden. Furthermore, both "Talisman" and "Genesis" gathered some international interest and were released in Japan on Xero.

The band did a club tour in Sweden in March with Julie Greaux on keyboards and Jake Samuels back again on drums. While the band was planning a tour in Japan, Samuels left again to pursue a singing career. The new drummer was Jamie Borger from the recently broken-up Treat. Talisman became a 'group' for the first time and were now ready to tour Japan (where the live album "Five out of Five (Live in Japan)" was recorded and released postponed) and Europe.

After the end of the European tour in early October, the band were scheduled to fly to Los Angeles to record the already available material. But those plans were disregarded and the recording got delayed. Fredrik, Jamie and Marcel spent the following two months in a rehearsal studio in Upplands Väsby, just outside Stockholm, writing, playing bits of music, improvising arrangements, learning the new stuff and collecting tons of material.

In January 1994 Jeff joined the guys and the band recorded and mixed the new album "Humanimal" at Sound Trade Studios in Stockholm. Everything was perfect: the recording sessions, the working environment, everyone having much fun! Except for Jeff being worried about his home situation because of the huge earthquake which hit LA killing 60 and injuring around 8,000 people. Additional musicians on "Humanimal" were Julie Greaux as backing vocalist and the sound engineer Ronny Lahti playing the funky wah guitar on "Seasons".

The guys, being so pleased with the recordings (22 tracks recorded and mixed in 22 days), wanted to make it a double album at first, but then decided against it since pretty much all the material would fit on one cd. So Jeff and Marcel chose the set of the songs to be on the album. Unfortunately, the Japanese label Zero, was allowed to put together their own version of the album suitable for the Japanese audience. The whole matter turned out to be a mess: the German version by Polydor was different from the Swedish one featuring "Hypocrite" as bonus track. The Japanese had to release the Swedish version too because of the amount of imports. In Europe a second version was released with the outtakes from the first one. "Humanimal" was greeted with great enthusiasm thanks to a successful combination of metal, funky and pop influences. It is still the favourite album of several fans and of more than one member in the band. Despite some good album sales, no touring was done for this album.

In 1995 Marcel and Jeff worked together in LA to write the songs for the next album Life. Drums were recorded by Jamie in a very short time at Park Studios. After doing overdubs, the tapes were sent to Jeff so that he could record the bulk of the vocals at home. The original mixing took place in the same studio where "Genesis" was recorded, once again with the help of Mats Lindfors, but something didn’t sound right to the guys and the album was remixed for the European version. At the same time, several problems with the labels (Polydor, Xero, Empire) occurred, leading the band not to get any touring done for the album.

The guys took a break from Talisman for 3 years... Jeff went on to do things with the Boogie Knights, although he and Marcel had taken some time to record the Human Clay albums.

Talisman also had the chance to play a couple of gigs and to open up for Yngwie Malmsteen in Stockholm. For those shows the band enlisted Pontus Norgren on guitar (ex Great King Rat) because Fredrik had left in the fall of 1995 to pursue a more metal oriented direction (see the band Southpaw featuring Mats Levén on vocals and John Levén on bass).

In 1998 the guys were requested from Christer Wedin (Empire Records) to do a new Talisman album. Marcel travelled to LA to write songs with Jeff. Jamie and Pontus joined the guys a few days later to rehearse and record drums in a small studio and do overdubs in Jeff's home studio. The new album "Truth" saw the light. The guys had a lot of help with the recording and the mixing from John Ellis (Prism Sound Studios, Boston). The album included a range of covers: “Darling Nikki” of Prince, “Let me entertain you” of Queen and “Frozen” of Madonna (which apparently became very popular in clubs in Germany). Once again there was no touring done for the album unfortunately.

In May/June 2001 Pontus, Marcel and Jeff were busy working in Sweden on the album of Humanimal (the band!). At the same time, dj Dr. Rock from the Swedish Radio Rock Klassiker persuaded the guys to perform at Sweden Rock Festival.

Two nights before the festival gig, Talisman played in Stockholm. Owing to a miscommunication between Jamie, Pontus, Marcel and the guys doing the mobile recording stuff, Marcel's entire gear (bass included!) was left at the venue in Stockholm instead of travelling with everybody else’s gear down to Sölvesborg, south of Sweden, where the Sweden Rock Festival takes place. Marcel wanted to leave the festival but, after looking inside the tent which was fully packed with a crowd shouting for Talisman, he decided not to turn his back on those people. So Marcel and other people started to run around the festival area to look for a bass to be borrowed in time for the show: Magnus Rosén from HammerFall finally lent Marcel one of his bass guitars.

The show went great and, since another band playing at Sweden Rock Festival had a mobile hard disc recording unit, Christer Wedin managed to get the Talisman show recorded as well. But the sound Marcel had at the show was not too exciting and some out of tunes guitars needed some fixing. So he and Pontus went into the studio to record live together the entire show exactly the same way they would have done it on stage. The live album was released in October 2002 in Sweden only through Empire Records, charting at number 18 the first week! In the same year, the entire back catalogue of Talisman was re-issued with bonus tracks on Frontline Records in Brazil.

Jeff, Marcel and Pontus later joined forces with drummer Tomas Broman (Great King Rat, Electric Boys, Amaze Me) and finally released the self-titled debut album of Humanimal in 2002. In May the band played a couple of shows to support it. Unfortunately, this was not a good moment for the guys owing to some personal, professional and legal problems. Pontus and Marcel had a falling out and this meant that Pontus was out both of Talisman and Humanimal.

Humanimal split. Marcel and Jeff had a meeting with Christer Wedin who explained the guys were basically free to go into business without him. Since Jeff had already signed a deal with the Italian label Frontiers for his solo album "Love Parade", he talked to them about doing a new Talisman album. Frontiers showed them open arms.

Now the guitar issue had to be sorted. Jeff had had Howie Simon playing on his solo album and was now trying to persuade Marcel to involve him. Jamie was at the same time pushing to get Fredrik back in the band. It ended up with Fredrik back in the studio and Howie joining the band for some live gigs. Interesting coincidence, Christer Wedin had been contacted by an Italian recording studio willing to let Talisman use the studio for free. This contact was reopened and the guys spent two weeks’ time at the Music Planet Recording Studio in Acqui Terme, near Turin, with Jeff being in charge of everything in terms of logistics and dealing with Frontiers. After having finished in the studio, Marcel and Jeff flew to Boston where they worked with engineer and friend John Ellis for the second time. They were supposed to be mixing, but had to do some editing first instead and so John did the final mixes without Marcel and Jeff.

"Cats and Dogs" was released in May 2003 and a tour in Europe (including a headlining slot at Gods of AOR Festival in the UK, a performance at Frontiers Showcase in Italy, a new appearance at Sweden Rock Festival and a show at Lokerse Festival in Belgium) took place in the following months.

Also in 2003 through GMR Music Group Sweden, the entire back catalogue of Talisman was re-mastered and re-issued, complete with bonus-tracks, demos, live gigs, promotional videos, liner notes.

In March 2005 through Frontiers Records, Talisman launched a double DVD package "World’s Best Kept Secret" which coincided with the 15th anniversary of the release of the first Talisman album. The set comprised two complete shows from the "Cats and Dogs" tour in 2003 (Sweden Rock Festival and Club Mondo in Stockholm), archive backstage and live footage, all the band’s promotional videos, an instructional video from Marcel Jacob and much more! A double live album "Five Men Live", including the gigs at Sweden Rock Festival and at Club Mondo, was also released at the same time.

For about 9 months starting from the end of 2005, Jeff, Marcel, Jamie and Fredrik have worked on a brand new Talisman album called "7". According to Marcel, this might simply be the best Talisman album ever!!! The release is due on 20th October on Frontiers Records, with a Japanese release on King Records.

The working title was "BAR" which stood for "Bitter-Angry-Resentful", basically a joke referring to the guys’ outlook on certain life events. The guys then opted for the more straightforward title "7" (it’s actually the band’s 7th studio album).

The new material is very melodic including some ballads, yet it encompasses what is the band’s trademark: catchy hooks, groovy rhythms, aggressive guitars and the ability to play different music styles. All songs were written by Marcel and Jeff, except "Shed a tear goodbye" which was written by Jamie and Jeff.

"7" was recorded at XTC Studios in Älvsjö and at Mahatma Gandhi Location in Stockholm, with all the vocals done at the Hampton in Northridge, California. Marcel has handled all guitars, except leads, and keyboards. The album includes 11 tracks and was mixed by Pontus Norgren, who is also the guest guitar player on "Final curtain", the bonus-track on the Japanese release.

The band was supposed to do a tour in September/October 2006 hitting Germany, Greece, Belgium, Italy and Spain, but everything has been delayed to further notice due to Jeff’s commitment in Journey. Another go will be given as soon as possible.

As of Dec. 19, 2006, Jeff Scott Soto has been officially brought on as permanent singer for Journey. Talisman plan to do their final performances in Spring 2007 as the band are heading towards new horizons.

Victory

Victory is a German hard rock band from Hannover, most successful in the 1980s. With extensive tours and radio airplay, the band also made a breakthrough in North America.

Victory was formed in 1984 from the remnants of the band Fargo. Bassist Peter Knorn, the two guitarists Tommy Newton and John Lockton and drummer Bernie Van de Graaf had all previously worked together in that band. After originally working with singer Pedro Schemm, and later Thunderhead-frontman Ted Pullit, former Gary Moore- and Ted Nugent-singer Charlie Huhn became the band's singer. Recommended by Scorpions' guitarist Rudolph Schenker, the band sign a management deal with David Kreb (who managed, among others, Scorpions and Aerosmith).

A self-titled album appeared in 1985 on CBS Records to mild controversy because of the cover art: a scantily-dressed woman lying on her back with her legs spread, forming a V. The hype worked and the album made the charts. But before the first US tour, drummer Van de Graaf was replaced by Fritz Randow (ex-Eloy). Apart from playing 60 concerts, the band was also in the two largest festivals of the country, Day In The Green in Oakland before 60,000 and the Texxas Jam before over 80,000 spectators. After his return to Germany, John Lockton was replaced by the former Accept guitarist, Herman Frank.

With their second album Don't Get Mad... Get Even the band again toured through Europe and America and the single Check's In The Mail gave them a radio hit in the USA. The third album Hungry Hearts came out in 1987 leading to yet more European and North American live work. A concert in Hamburg was recorded for a live album, which appeared in 1988 under the title That's Live. After its release, Huhn left the band, in order to join Humble Pie Featuring Jerry Shirley. His replacement was the 22-year-old Swiss, Fernando Garcia.

The fourth album Culture Killed The Native achieved #19 in the German charts and also entered the charts in the USA again. A Europe tour as support for Gary Moore followed, before Victory started their first headline tour through America, as well as their first concert in Canada. Both Singles Never Satisfied and Don't Tell No Lies again received airplay on Radio and MTV. By 1990 a second studio album with Garcia was released: Temples Of Gold appeared in the top 20 in Germany and the first edition of it added a six song live EP, of recordings made in Los Angeles. An additional US-Tour followed, before 1992 the Album You Bought It You Name It was released.

Victory now ranked alongside Scorpions, Accept and Helloween as the most successful German band but announced their split in 1994 with the double live album live LINE . But two years later they returned with the new album Voiceprint. Frank was replaced by the new guitarist Jake Paland, and Randow by Matthias Liebetruth (who some years later would play for Running Wild). This new album made little commercial impression and resulted in the final dissolution for the band.

Newton made a name as a producer (he worked on Helloween's Keeper Of The Seven Keys) and became manager (with Knorn) of Uli Jon Roth, Glenn Hughes and Michael Schenker. Huhn joined (in 2000) Foghat and Garcia (from 2004) sang for Swiss metal band Godiva (Band). Randow played in the meantime for Saxon.

In 2002, rumours of a reunification of Victory started. Garcia declined to participate, which it made it all the more surprising that in 2003, the album Instinct appeared with the lineup of Huhn, Newton, Frank, Knorn and Randow. Victory played some concerts in Russia and Bulgaria as well as Wacken Open Air - a festival in northern Germany. Since Huhn was living in America, tour activities were difficult. Huhn was finally replaced with Jioti Parcharidis, the singer of Human Fortress.

With Parcharidis, the band released the album Fuel To The Fire, containing re-recordings of their best known songs in January 2006. Thereafter another line-up change followed. Randow left Victory and was replaced by former Sanvoisen drummer Achim Keller. Appearances followed at Bang Your Head and Sweden Rock-festival as well as a European tour in support of Metal Church in May and June.

Alice Cooper

Alice Cooper (born Vincent Furnier; February 4, 1948) is an American rock singer, songwriter and musician whose career spans five decades. With a stage show that features guillotines, electric chairs, fake blood and boa constrictors, Cooper drew equally from horror movies, vaudeville, heavy metal, and garage rock to create a theatrical brand of rock music that would come to be known as shock rock.

Alice Cooper was originally a band consisting of Furnier on vocals and harmonica, lead guitarist Glen Buxton, Michael Bruce on rhythm guitar, Dennis Dunaway on bass guitar, and drummer Neal Smith. The original Alice Cooper band broke into the international music mainstream with 1971's monster hit "I'm Eighteen" from the album Love it to Death, which was followed by the even bigger single "School's Out" in 1972. The band reached their commercial peak with the 1973 album Billion Dollar Babies. Cooper's solo career began with the 1975 concept album Welcome to My Nightmare. In 2008 he released Along Came a Spider, his 18th solo album. Expanding from his Detroit garage rock and glam rock roots, over the years Cooper has experimented with many different musical styles, including conceptual rock, art rock, hard rock, pop rock, experimental rock and industrial rock. In recent times he has returned more to his garage rock roots.

Alice Cooper is known for his social and witty persona offstage, The Rolling Stone Album Guide going so far as to refer to him as the world's most "beloved heavy metal entertainer". He helped to shape the sound and look of heavy metal, and is seen as being the man who "first introduced horror imagery to rock'n'roll, and whose stagecraft and showmanship have permanently transformed the genre". Away from music, Cooper is a film actor, a golfing celebrity, a restauranteur and, since 2004, a popular radio DJ with his classic rock shows Nights with Alice Cooper.

Accept

Accept was a German heavy metal band from the town of Solingen, originally assembled in the early 1970s by Udo Dirkschneider. The band played an important role in the development of speed metal and Teutonic thrash metal. Their 1983 album, Balls to the Wall, subsequently became their most successful release, featuring its well-known hit with the same title.

For many years after its founding, Accept went through constant changes to its line-up and was essentially kept on an amateur level, making sporadic appearances in festival concerts. Their professional career began in 1976, when they were invited to play at one of the first rock and roll festivals from Germany — Rock am Rhein. Following the festival, the band received a recording deal. Their first recording was the self-titled Accept album which did not achieve much commercial success.

The first stable line-up of Accept was composed of vocalist Udo Dirkschneider, guitarists Wolf Hoffmann and Gerhard Wahl, bassist Peter Baltes and drummer Frank Friedrich. Friedrich and Wahl quit the band after the release of Accept, since they did not intend to pursue a professional career in music[citation needed]. They were replaced by Stefan Kaufmann and Jörg Fischer, and with this line-up the band proceeded to record I'm a Rebel in 1980. This was the album which brought media attention to the band, which was subsequently invited to make its first televised show.

Three important events took place in 1981. First, the album Breaker was released. Second, a contract with manager Gaby Hauke was signed, an agreement which lasted for the whole of the band's career. Third, Accept joined Judas Priest's world tour and obtained a fair amount of success, making the band known outside of Europe.

The next album — Restless and Wild — was released in 1982, but did not have the presence of Jörg Fischer, who quit the band a short time before the recording took place. Jan Koemmet was hired as Accept's new guitarist. Restless and Wild saw an evolution in the band's sound, which incorporated several characteristics of the genre which would later be called speed metal.

Accept became successful with their next release, Balls to the Wall (1983), now with Herman Frank (ex-Sinner), which would prove to be something different from what they had previously recorded. The album was of a conceptual nature, and included songs which spoke about themes such as politics, sexuality and different kinds of human relationships. For example the title track "Balls to the Wall" refers to slaves revolting against oppressing masters. "Fight It Back" is about the social misfit, fighting against conformity. The lyrics for the songs were credited to Accept + a certain "Deaffy", which was later revealed to be their manager Gaby Hauke under a pseudonym. She proceeded to compose the lyrics of all of their songs from that album on, without ever officially claiming authorship of the songs.

During a show in their hometown in the year of 1983, the band ran into Jörg Fischer by chance. On Hauke's insistence, Fischer was made part of the band once more. A world tour which would only end in 1984 — at the historic Monsters of Rock festival — followed.

Metal Heart came next, in 1985, soon followed by the live album Kaizoku-Ban. Russian Roulette continued the series of albums, being produced by Scorpions producer Dieter Dierks and released in 1986.

However, as time passed, differences began to surface. Peter Baltes, Wolf Hoffmann and Gaby Hauke expressed a growing interest in the USA, and spent more time in overseas countries than in Germany, which meant they were constantly away from the rest of the band. The distance between them grew, and it was eventually decided that Accept would enter an hiatus and that Udo Dirkschneider would, in the meantime, pursue a solo career. The other members of the band worked together with Udo on the technical side of his first solo album, entitled Animal House, and it was released under the name of U.D.O. in Europe and America.

After a period of inactivity, Peter, Wolf and Stefan set to work once more as a band with the help of vocalist David Reece; Udo's solo career was working out well and guitarist Jörg Fischer had once more left Accept. After a few demos, the band felt secure enough with this new line-up and released Eat the Heat, the first Accept album without Udo.

A short warm up tour in the USA was followed by a European tour with the support of rhythm guitarist Jim Stacey followed the release of the album. The tour, however, came to a sudden halt when Stefan Kaufmann sustained a serious injury to his back. He was replaced by drummer Ken Mary for the remainder of the tour. By the tour's end, Hoffmann, Baltes and Hauke had decided that Reece was an unstable personality and Kaufman was going to need a long break from the drums. They decided it was time to quit. By 1989, the band had ceased its activities.

A live compilation entitled Staying a Life was released in 1990, and fans from around the globe demanded a reunion. During a visit to Germany, Udo met with the musicians from Accept and, after some discussion, it was decided that they would relaunch the classic line-up of the band.

Objection Overruled was released in 1993. The band's reunion was a qualified success in Europe and the USA, where the band was working though Pavement Records. A world tour followed. Another album, entitled Death Row, was released in 1994, but Kaufmann became unable to play once more due to his recurring back injury. The band invited Stefan Schwarzmann as a temporary replacement and commenced plans for their next tour.

The musicians, however, began to feel tired. The teenagers from the town of Solingen had grown up and were beginning to feel the toll of a life of constant touring. A sense of finality was in the air when the band entered studios to record Predator from 1996, this time with Michael Cartellone (from Damn Yankees) on the drums.

Aldo Nova

Aldo Nova (born Aldo Caporuscio on November 13, 1956, in Montreal, Quebec) is a Canadian guitarist, keyboardist, vocalist and producer, Nova gained fame with his self-titled debut album Aldo Nova in 1981, and its accompanying single "Fantasy", which climbed to #23 on the Billboard Hot 100. Nova was born to Italian immigrant parents Anna Sardelli and Bernardo Caporuscio.

Signing with Portrait Records, Nova released a self-produced album, Aldo Nova, in 1981. It had two singles: "Fantasy" and "Foolin' Yourself". His next album, Subject...Aldo Nova had a minor hit with "Monkey on Your Back," his solo career flagged and he became a player and songwriter for other bands. He worked with Jon Bon Jovi in both the early and late 1980s and produced some early Céline Dion albums. He helped write and produce parts of Chantal Condor's 1989 album, Chantal. . Nova co-wrote the hit song "A New Day Has Come" (among others) for Celine Dion and has been featured playing guitar, synthesizer, and percussion on her records.

In 1991, Nova sought the help of Jon Bon Jovi to revive his solo career on his release Blood on the Bricks, but it still only managed to chart at #124.

As a songwriter, Nova's recent hits include Clay Aiken's "This is the Night" (co-written with Chris Braide and Gary Burr), which in the US was a #1 hit and the best-selling single of 2003.

Heavens Edge

Heaven's Edge is a former glam metal band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania active in the early 1990s. Formed in April of 1987 in Philadelphia, PA, the quintet specialized in the same style of music that such bands as Mötley Crüe, Ratt, and Poison had taken to the top of the charts and a demo led to a recording contract with Columbia Records.

The band started out playing clubs like Empire, Galaxy, and Trocadero on the east coast. Their first attempt to reach beyond the local music scene was a demotape of five songs that all later ended up on the debut album. It caught the attention of many fans and the metal press, including the European magazine Metal Forces. The popularity of the demo and their energetic live shows made Columbia Records sign the band, and in 1990 Heavens Edge recorded and released their self-titled debut album (which was overseen by renowned heavy metal producer Neil Kernon [Dokken, Queensrÿche]), but when it went nowhere shortly after release, the group split from Columbia.. Produced by Neil Kernon of Dokken and Queensryche fame it was an impressive record with diverse material ranging from their specialty power rockers like "Play Dirty", to poppier songs like "Find Another Way", the slow, heavy blues of "Is that All you Want?" and the thrashy "Can't Catch Me".

A video was also shot, surprisingly for the fast rock'n'roll tune "Skin to Skin", one of the album's best tracks, but maybe not the most MTV and radio friendly. The band had already shot half the footage for the next video/single Find Another Way. When the president of Columbia records, decided to pull the plug on the video. Without the label support, the band thought it was best to split with Columbia, and look for another record deal.

The band shortly signed a development deal with Capitol Records. A year later, the band had written enough material for a second album, and with former LeCompt guitarist Jimmy Marchiano replacing Steven Parry, Heavens Edge prepared themselves to return with a vengeance. They premiered most of the new songs live in 91-92 before going into the studio. Songs like potential radio hit "Jacky", acoustic ballad "Just another Fire" and their trademark power rockers "Jump on it" and "Burnin' the Candle" show that the band had retained their ability to write diverse material of high quality.

With the musical tides abruptly changing in the early '90s from pretty boy glam metal to stripped-down alternative rock, Heaven's Edge split up in 1992 after a development deal with Capitol Records led to a dead end. Some of the group's former members formed another outfit, American Pie, which eventually broke up, as well.

Well this could have been the end for Heavens Edge, but in some amazing news the guys signed a new record deal for MTM music in 1998. They are a company specialising in AOR and melodic hardrock. The album was originally scheduled for released in 1992. But some six years later they finally completed the album. Mark, Reggie, Dave and G.G. also entered the studio to record the songs "Rollercoaster" and " Cuts Both Ways".

The second album "Some Other Place - Some Other Time" was released by MTM music in Europe and Pony Canyon in Japan in 1998. A year later Perris Records released the album in the U.S. This version has a different artcover and six added bonustracks. SOPSOT continued where the first album left off, and is full of great melodic hardrock. It has everything from power rockers like "Backseat Driver" to the catchy "Rock Steady" to ballads like "Just Another Fire". Any old fan of Heavens Edge will most certainly love this new album. And they will surely gain a lot of new fans as well.

In 1999 The band were asked to record a song for the Motley Crue - Kickstart My Heart tribute abum. The guys went into the studio and recorded "Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away) of the Dr. Feelgood album. Proceedes of the Cd sales are donated to the Skylar Neil Memorial Foundation. This was set up to help children in hospitals, after Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil lost his 4 year old daughter to cancer. On to 2002. The band is put on hold indefinitely. The guys are all exploring different things at the moment.

The Law

The Law were an English rock group formed in 1991 comprising of ex-The Who/The Faces drummer Kenney Jones and former Free/Bad Company singer Paul Rodgers. The two teamed up with the idea of using different supporting musicians, in order to allow Paul Rodgers to pursue whatever musical style he felt like. They assembled a core band of studio musicians, including guitarist John Staehely and bassist Pino Palladino, and landed guest spots from guitarists like David Gilmour, Bryan Adams, and Chris Rea. They produced Billboard's #1 AOR Chart hit "Laying Down The Law" written by Rodgers, but the album peaked at a disappointing #126 on the Billboard's Pop Albums chart. An album of out-takes from the first album has been released as a bootleg, often referred to as "The Law II".

The Law played one show (the only one!) at Milton Keynes Bowl supporting ZZ Top and Bryan Adams they were joined for this show by John Young on keyboards.

Lynch Mob

Lynch Mob are a band featuring former Dokken guitarist George Lynch, who has been the band's only permanent member. After Dokken broke up in 1989, George Lynch formed his own band, the Lynch Mob, with Dokken drummer Mick Brown. The rest of the band have been a revolving door of members who have come and gone, and in some cases, come back. The first Lynch Mob album, titled Wicked Sensation (released in 1990), was praised by many fans as a great rock album.

The album featured vocalist Oni Logan who was fired shortly after touring due to unknown reasons. Many feel that songs such as the title track (the album's lone single), "River of Love," "She's So Evil," and "For a Million Years" would have done very well in the 80's "hair metal" scene. However, due to the explosion of grunge and the waning popularity of "hair metal," the album didn't make much of an impact and sold rather poorly.

The next album was the self-titled Lynch Mob (released in 1992), which fared even worse upon its release. The album sported many great rock anthems such as "Tangled in the Web" and a cover of Queen's "Tie your Mother Down." It featured the vocals of new vocalist Robert Mason (who was briefly considered as a replacement for Stephen Pearcy in Ratt, but ultimately lost (turned down) that job to Jizzy Pearl, who has since left Ratt). Lynch Mob disbanded after the tour for the album. In 1995, Lynch and drummer Mick Brown would reunite with Dokken.

In 1998, Lynch was let go from Dokken. Consecutively, Lynch attempted to reform the original Lynch Mob line-up. Sadely the band broke-up again after a single writing session. The fruits of this session was a three song demo which ended being released as SyGyZY.

Lynch then formed the third incarnation of the group, taking the music into a rap-metal direction, though the sound was entirely distinct from rapcore bands such as Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park. In 1999, Smoke This was released to disappointed fans and critics. A tour followed the album and the band disbanded again.

In 2003, Robert Mason, original bassist Anthony Esposito, and Lynch reformed to record modernized Lynch Mob and Dokken material. Mick Brown stayed with Dokken and Michael Frowein was hired as the a drummer. The new recordings on the album titled REvolution were heavier and faster than the original, and were well received by the Lynch Mob fans. Frowein was replaced by Chas Stumbo (Earshot) for the 2003 REvolution Tour. A Live CD/DVD package of the final show of that tour was later released. While the documented show ended up being the last ever Lynch Mob Show, the audio was from a different performance and often does not match the images.

Lynch has sporadically recorded under the Lynch Mob name and has toured with the band in the past. In 2007, George and his band performed a marathon 26 show/30 day tour, which included a much talked about feature on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The line-up was: George Lynch - Guitars, Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath/Dio) - Drums, Marten Andersson (Lizzy Borden/Starwood/Legacy) - Bass, Andrew Freeman - Vocals. Some of these same members have apparently also toured under the name 'Lynch' as recently as 2008.

Currently, George Lynch seems to be focused on his 'Guitar Dojo' lessons. He has toured Europe in 2006 but only under his own name and not the Lynch Mob. The popular lineup of Dokken was set to reunite to play Rocklahoma 2008 in Pryor, Ok and tour during the summer however those plans fell apart. George used this chance to reunite Lynch Mob (with vocalist Oni Logan) to play at Rocklahoma 2008 and is scheduled to tour with Cinderella and Warrant (who have reunited with their vocalist Jani Lane).

Sheriff

Sheriff was a Canadian rock band in the early 1980s, best known for their hit song "When I'm with You".

The band was formed in 1979 in Toronto and consisted of vocalist Freddy Curci, guitarist Steve de Marchi, keyboardist Arnold Lanni, bassist Wolf Hassel and drummer Rob Elliott.

The band released only one album, an eponymous effort in 1982 that featured a Canadian Top 40 hit, "You Remind Me" as well as their most famous song, "When I'm with You", which reached #1 in Canada and #61 in America in 1983.

The band split up in 1985, citing internal tensions. Lanni and Hassel went on to form Frozen Ghost and racked up several hits in Canada, the biggest of which was "Should I See", which reached #69 in America becoming their only U.S. hit.

Six years after "When I'm with You" had been a chart hit in Canada, a DJ in Las Vegas began playing the song. It subsequently became #1 in the United States in 1989. This success eventually led to Curci and de Marchi returning to the music scene in a band called Alias, who in the early 1990s had two very popular singles, with "Waiting For Love" and their #2 smash "More Than Words Can Say".

Trivia

Their song "When I'm With You" is featured in the second-season Cold Case episode "It's Raining Men" and in the 2001 David Spade film Joe Dirt.

Signal

Signal was an American AOR band that released one album, Loud & Clear, in 1989. The band featured Mark Free as lead singer. They recorded "Loud & Clear", one of the biggest albums in the melodic rock scene. Signal is a pioneer band of modern AOR.

Signal was hard to form. It originally started as a Peter McIan project with Erik and Mark as co-writers. Signal was a project also put together by Baker and producer Peter McKeown. The latter was fired before the project commenced recording, Kevin Elson coming in to produce the album and ex-KING KOBRA vocalist MARK FREE was enrolled through mutual acquaintance Judithe Randall, another songwriter.

It evolved over a two to three year period between late 1987 and 1990. It was originally called The Fugitive Kind. The name Signal was given by Ron Fair who had taken over the A & R duties at E.M.I. after our original A & R rep Bruce Dickinson left the label. He got the idea when he went into his bathroom one day and saw the bottle of mouthwash on the back of his toilet. Mark (Marcie) Free had tried for years to get everyone in the band to agree on a name. They had come up with literally hundreds of names.

Since leaving KING KOBRA, Mark had been involved in an abortive early line-up of BLUE MURDER in Vancouver before heading back to Los Angeles. Involving himself in what would become SIGNAL, his vocals becoming the last part of a jigsaw that saw him in a 'band' comprised of guitarist Danny Jacob, ex ALICE COOPER bassist Erik Scott and former ALICE COOPER and ALCATRAZZ drummer Jan Uvena.

By this time Mark Free had met the ex WORLD TRADE duo of Bruce Gowdy and Guy Allison and would promptly form UNRULY CHILD, with the rest being very much interesting history (Free now wishes to be known as a woman, MARCIE FREE).

Danny Jacob re-appeared on former HOUSE OF LORDS vocalist JAMES CHRISTIAN's 'Rude Awakening' solo album in 1995, which also featured a few songs co-written by one Mark Baker, who had also gained credits on the HOUSE OF LORDS 'Demons Down' album.
